We are plodding through the digitizing of Washington co.

I think that we must be getting used to the hot/cold changed in temperature from leaving home, to entering the Archives (cold) and then at lunch time we walk outside to get warmed up only to come back into the cold of the archives.  My sweater stays on all the time and it must look really funny to people outside who are wearing spaghetti straps and sandals.
In an effort to get a change of pace, we decided that for half the day one of us would do the digitizing and for the other half of the day that person would do the York county files.  Then we would change about so that we did not get tired of doing this tedious stuff.  The York county files are all mixed up and it is hard to make sure that we get them right.  Well, it is the job of Art and Jeff to figure out what file goes where.  Some of them are f or April term and some for other terms and they are all mixed in together.  I think that for my health sake I should get up and walk around every hour otherwise my knees begin to atrophy and I have a hard time walking.
Our surprise for the day came in the mail.  I had been interviewed over the phone by Prescott Newspapers about my quilt and I asked for a copy of the article to be sent to me.  The interviewer did not offer any hope that I would be getting a copy of the article, but today it came and it was a total surprise.  Wilda Postel had commented in an email that my really wonderful quilt was in the company of some not so good quilts………….well, I know the ladies who worked on the other quilts and their handwork is spectacular and the news paper photo was not so good.  There we one quilt that did not belong at all with these other quilts…….They featured this lady with a picture of her working and she said that she was a beginner quilter and that she just sewed pieces together.  She should exhibit with Gees Bend if that is what she does.  In my opinion it was a crying shame that they featured her quilt along with the extraordinary craftsmanship of the other quilts there.  I read the article and the interviewer got that backwards as well.  Is there no one that can write in English any more.
At lunch, Anne and I just about finished off the Nutella with the corn chips.  It is a real treat.
At Dance Class tonight, Mary told me that one of the other ladies asked her if I was a Nun.  Mary said no and then the lady said, “Well haven’t you read her name tag?  It says ‘sister’ so she must be a nun.”  I laughed so hard at that one.

  1. I liked the nun comment. As a newlywed, I served as MiaMaid advisor at church. At the same time, I worked with 3 nuns at Legal Services (one attorney, one paralegal and an outreach worker.) I told the young women, "Never call and ask for Sister Murdock." It will really confuse the intake staff since there are 3 "sisters" in the office.
