A healing day for me

Today dawned bright and wonderful and cool and no humidity.  I did the laundry very early – you can do that here because most of the people who live in these apartments are comatose until around noon on Saturday and Sunday.  I did see one of the upstairs people go fishing around 1pm and the lady next door came out to get her mail but the mailman was having a hard time delivering the mail due to some yellow jackets that have built a nest in one of the mail boxes.  I think they should supply them with hornet spray for their own protection.
After we got the laundry put away, we left for the YMCA and we parked our car there and walked down to Hallowell for Hallowell Days celebration.  They advertised a craft show but it was not a high class thing by any means and not too well organized.  The Coast Guard had two boats tied up at the boat landing while the yoga people were practicing their moves on the other end of the boat dock.  We walked the main street of Hallowell and people were lining up at 9am for the parade that was to start at 10am.  We decided not to stay for the parade and so we walked back to the YMCA and then drove home.
After lunch, we gathered up our stuff and headed off for the Primary activity for the children to celebrate the 24th July with pioneer activities.  The little kids all had a great time while the older folk sat in the shade and chatted.  At 5pm they brought out the food and we all ate and then the numbers dwindled as folks left to go home.  The McNaughtons showed me through their home.  It is a log home and it looks really really nice.  They said that one drawback is that the windows leak (air) in the winter and the house is cold and that when it rains hard, the windows leak water.  Other than that the house is wonderful.
We drove back home through Hallowell and the “joint was really jumpin’” with a loud rock band playing at the northern end and the smell of stale frytol filled the air around the fried food vendors down by the boat dock.  Tonight they are set to have fireworks out on the River.
Today was a great day of healing for me.
