Some months ago my spectacular grandchildren sent me a care package. In that package was a number of things including 6 band aids put in by my granddaughter Lyla. I did not have need to use them till today and when I cut my finger I grabbed a band aid and the antibiotic cream and when I opened up the band aid I found that it was a Dora the Explorer band aid. Now I know there is a move afoot to have band aids made in colors to match skin types etc. so that they will be as inconspicuous as possible, but I doubt if there are people with pink, purple, yellow and red blotchy looking skin to match the Dora the Explorer band aid colors. Maybe there are - somewhere - or they would not have made them to stand out against any and all skin colors etc. We have to have things to match all needs. My need was great and I am glad that Lyla thought to send Grandma a band aid or two. I am the only Grandma in Maine who has a Dora band aid on her thumb - that is my singular distinction this week. Should all grandma's be so lucky.
I asked how Oliver is doing with his glasses. They are green on the inside and black facing out and he has to wear them to read etc. He was asked to write his name and he told the teacher he could not write his name because he did not have his glasses on.
Ethan is going to Gymnastics three times a week during the summer - for June and July. This should really boost his abilities when the gym program starts up in the fall.
Lyla has her first dance recital next weekend. Recital time is wonderful for all the dancers. The excitement of wearing pretty outfits and performing the steps they worked so hard to master. Nothing can beat the rush that comes with performance times.
Oliver plays soccer and made an awesome goal. He told his mother, "that was awesome. there was some invisible fire that made it go into the goal and no one could stop it."
You just cannot beat the views expressed by 5yr olds.
and you cannot match the forethought of 3 yr olds.
It has been raining now for more than 24 hours and expected to be here all week. Already there are fears that the Kennebec will escape from its boundaries and invade the towns that line its banks. Life on a mission sure gets exciting - a fiber fair, a wedding reception and now the prospect of a flood. Almost more than one can imagine or experience.
