Oh yes, it really was Christmas today. When we arrived at the Archives, we could not get the camera to turn on. So we called Salt Lake and they said that we had blown a fuse and to install a new one that is taped to the lid of the switch. So, Bill took the fuse out, cut it off, bent it up and it still did not work. So, I took the second fuse, did not cut pieces off, tweaked them to fit in the two tiny holes and hey presto, the camera started working.
They said they would send us two new fuses. I just hope they do not sent them Overnight delivery byFedEX.
When we installed the new camera, Bill twisted the connection and we ended up with three extra pieces that we could not put back in. So, since the camera was unusable I took the orphan pieces and tried to see how they could be put back into the connector. found that the housing had to be put in just so, did that, and now that is fixed. Guess I have fixed too many sewing machines (before they became computerized), and have had practice with these things.
Well, that was two surprises for our impromptu Christmas...............
The next surprise was going to a car wash after work, over in Manchester. We sat in the car while the machine sloshed and sprayed our car with us inside. It does look a lot better now that it has been bathed. We used the vacuum there to try to suck up the sand that has migrated by way of our shoes into the car. We were mildly successful with that. the sand does not want to leave the confines of the car.
When we got home, Bill was tired so he took a nap and I went walking. I heard many birds singing and I wish I knew what they were so that I could name them. I did recognize a Cow Bird call and a Robin.
It has been very warm - in the 70's while Prescott has a 15 - 22 inch snowfall. School is called for the day and nothing is moving much.........actually, I expected to be up to my armpits in snow here in Maine but we have not had more than calf high snow and that was only one snowfall.
I wonder what surprises await us when we go into the Archives again tomorrow?
