when we got up this morning the snow had been scraped off the parking lot but not between the cars, so I ended up with shoes full of snow when I went out to clean the snow and ice off the car. Oh the joys of living in snow country again. Even though it was only 18 degrees, it was not too bad being out in it but if the wind was blowing I really doubt if I would have stayed out too long.
when we got to work today, Art the Archiver told us that the Pepperidge Farm Cookies that had been left on the table in the break room had been raided by squirrels - the janitor found them in the break room. Guess they did not leave any cookies for him.................too bad. However, that does pose a problem - we have loads of paper in the Archives and the squirrels could really have a picnic if they found their way down to the shelves of old books and papers.
the conversation between the squirrels may have gone like this- Hey Fred! Can you smell goodies? Uh Uh! I wonder where they are? Oh I guess in that room where they are always eating stuff. Yeah! but they are not there at this time of night. Oh yes, I guess you are right. But, I can still smell something wonderful. Want to see if we can find where the smell is coming from? I'm game if you are game.........well, here we go. Just shinny up this wall, I think there is a hole up there that we used to use to hide in some time back. You think? Well, lets go up and see. Hey Charlie, want to come and have a feast? Yes! but up there? Yes, and I think you will like it.................Boy! It's sure dark in here. Can you wiggle through? Yep! Charlie, you here? Yep. going down........................now where is that smell coming from? I found it. Boy did we hit the jackpot.
Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! the janitor is coming through the door - and our little friends scamper in all directions, leaving a trail of cookie crumbs for the Janitor to clean up.
Now, the Game Warden will be in the building on Monday, setting traps to catch the pilferers. Good Luck on that one!
we had our usual Friday missionary meeting with the young Elders only and then we ate or rather they ate us out of house and home and went on their way happy.
