It has turned cold.
Well, to us it is cold and the leaves have taken a serious turn for
color all of a sudden. I am really
hoping for a glorious showing of leaves this year – something like we had in
Pennsylvania.
We have been going in early each morning in an attempt to
get our goals done. Bill wants to finish
100 boxes of Washington County court and I want to finish up the September term
of York co. court 1807. I was assembling
the writ’s today and noticed that we are missing a chunk of records. Jeff said that he had humidified the entire
September term records but it looks like he missed a bundle somewhere. He was not at work today – the septic tank at
his cabin backed up and he went up to help dig it out and get it working again…….what
a smelly job.
In the middle of all this, we got an email from someone in
the office at SLC and they found some files that need reworked – they were done
well before we came here and it is 18 months later and all of a sudden they
want them re-done. This has not made me
happy because we barely have enough time to make the goals we have set for
ourselves. Is no one interested in
asking first if we would have time to fit in this re-work? Apparently not! There will be missionaries coming in after
us, if that helps.
We went to line dance tonight and they applauded us to give
us a sendoff – we have been doing this activity now since January and I am
amazed that I even know some of the dances well enough that I do not have to
keep looking at my feet while I dance. I
do, however, have to keep an eye on the other dancers to get a clue as to
whether I am doing the dance right or not.
I guess in time I will know them all well enough to just get out there
and dance.
I took a card to Mary that was a Halloween card for cats and
on the front was 6 kittens – two of them looked like cats she has had at her
home. I put in some money for her to buy
food and litter for the little kittens she is fostering right now. When we were there last time she was saying
how much these little guys eat. She brought
a farewell gift to us – a blanket from the Animal shelter and a card and a wall
plaque. I am very glad that we met Mary
and that we have become friends.
Bill has been calling many businesses that have been sending
us information and bills etc. and has began changing our address back to
Prescott. It sounds so final but the
fact of the matter is, we will be gone from here in no time and when we get
home we will have a whole basket of mail from the post office to sift
through. Most of it will be tossed
out. One of the jokes we have between us
is guessing how much % off Kohls is
offering us in their mailing. It is either
15%, 20% or 30%. Today Bill won the
guessing game with 20%. We rarely shop
there because the stuff they sell is pretty expensive and at times not good
quality either. Everything is either on
sale or you can get a special deal if you spend so much $$ and then you get
Kohl’s Cash that has to be spent the following week – and then they ask you if
you want a Khol’s credit card and the list goes on and on with all the gimmicks
they have to get you into the store.
It will be very strange when we do not have to go to bed
early and get up early and make lunches to take with us to the Archives. What will we do with our time? Guess we will soon find out.
