My Knight at the beginning of the day

My Knight in Shining Armor.
This morning we had a hard time getting up – I was relying on 6 o’clock Charlie to zoom by and be the wakeup call – but he must have used his car today instead…………..and so we were late in getting up.  Bill was still in bed and said,”do you have a kiss for your knight in shining armor?”  I looked at him and all I could see was a 68yr old fellow missionary in maroon pajamas held firmly in place by the mattress monster with no hope of getting out of bed and being ready to go to the archives today.  Besides that, knights have sleek white stallions decked out in ribbons, fancy blankets and custom made saddles and the knight himself has polished chain mail and a lance and shield ready to do battle.  Bill had none of that so that is why I did not recognize him as a knight in shining armor.  When he finally got out of bed, he was still 68 years old, still wearing Maroon Pajamas and I think that the sleek white stallion was really our navy blue Altima parked in the parking lot.  Reality is such a stitch sometimes.
Charles, the young married who lives in the other building still roars off in his car each morning.  Yesterday he gave us a Thank you card from his wedding.  I had wanted to see the wedding pictures but they are not back yet and I do not think they will be here before we leave.  He is a really nice young man and he helped me a lot when the ice was treacherous by throwing sand out onto the surface so that I could get back to the building safely.  As he threw the sand out he said, “this ice is wicked slippery so be careful.”
My adventure for the day was twofold.  I finished up the 1807 court records for September that year and asked to be taken to the records area so that I could look for the missing records and instead, we found some records from 1801 that had not been prepared at all and Jeff said he would prepare them tomorrow morning.  There is two bundles and I can get them done quickly but the only problem is that there are no more boxes available to put them in and the box they should go in is jammed full of records.
I am really glad that I took time to re-examine the first records that I did because I noticed that I left out one piece of information on the sheets and also found one sheet that had not even been written on.  Boy, am I glad that I got the time to go back and fix this error.
The second adventure of the day was to go to Friendly’s Ice cream parlor with the ladies from Church and we had ice cream together.  We talked and we laughed and we had a lot of fun together.  Tomorrow night the men and Bill are going there for Ice Cream.  Friendly’s will laugh all the way to the bank as a result.
In the atrium of the archives and museum today they had a ‘bugs, beetles and butterflies’ set up and loads of little kids from  the area schools came by to see the displays.  The Mantis’s were the big hit with kids picking them up and putting them on their friends with lots of squeals and shouts.  There was a man there who had a very old Tarantula there and he said it was 19 years old.  He even had the last molt there for the kids to see.  One man had a FAT green caterpillar chomping on leaves and he had originally had three of them but one had built a cocoon during the night so he only had two.  I loved the whole thing and the kids were enthralled.
