In one of the folders, there were a number of newspapers. The law required that a notice be published in the newspaper three weeks in a row, so in this file there are three newspapers and the featured article is shown here.
This is Prince William Henry. As I read this through, it is about a negro (the proper name in 1805) who had been imprisoned in a man's home against his will. The man died and Prince William Henry, an under aged youth, was seeking his freedom. His freedom was granted.
this is a Cushnoc trading hut. Cushnoc means troubled waters and is right opposite the place where the incoming tide meets with the water coming down from above. The water is pretty much turbulent in this area when this happens and it is in downtown Augusta.
This is the pile of papers that have been used and re-used to separate out the humidified court papers. I have placed the papers from the courts in folders and now these tractor feed papers can go back down to the humidifying area to be re-used on other papers that have come out of the humidifier.
Since the 16 July, I have worked with humidified papers and put them in folders and then put the folders in these acid free boxes. I have labeled these boxes with the information on the contents and all 24 or them are ready to be put on the table ready for the next missionaries to digitize them. I have used 8 reams of acid free typing paper to write up each court writ - that comes to 4,000 pieces of paper - one sheet for each of the court cases. Today we found two bundles of papers (around 200 court cases) that missed being humidified from 1801. They will go in the humidifier tomorrow and then I will write up two hundred or so sheets to accompany the writs. Do not know how we will put them in the above boxes, because each box is jammed with papers and folders. They tell me that there are no more boxes.
We now have a situation where there are many more court writs than we have boxes to put them in. I really think that someone fell down on the job of ordering supplies.
It is like having too much month left at the end of the money.
