So we got no sympathy from the people who run the algorithms - we had to go ahead and re-work the four folders. Not such a happy day all round except that we finished all four books in one day. (Harry Potter Swish and Flick method works really well).
then the excitement began.
We were just finishing the last book and the fire alarm went off. WEEEOOOOWEEEEEOOOOO and we had to quick grab up our stuff and get out. The rule is that you leave the building promptly. Leave everything and get out. My computer goes with me and I do not leave it anywhere. We grabbed the computers and stuffed them into the case, turned off the lights and the camera and tore off out the building. Everyone was already outside - like a reception committee I suppose.
We got in the car and headed off for the YMCA. We did not go out the usual way to the Y but we went up to Sewell Street and then down Capitol Street and we managed to get to the Y before the fire engines arrived.
David would have loved this. They had the Ladder truck, two tankers, two rescue vehicles and the fire chief. Lights, sirens, flurry of yellow slickered firemen everywhere. Did not see the fireman wielding the axe this time. I walked up to the archive building and past it - people were still shivering outside and this was 30 minutes after the alarm went off. I walked up to K-Mart and then back and by this time it was 15 after 5pm and people were still outside shivering and the lights were still on full blast and yellow slickered firemen were still milling around.
After we left the YMCA we were headed home and the fire engine was just entering the roundabout when we got there so we entered it also. No one is going to force a fire engine off the roundabout and it is safe to enter it alongside the fire engine.
when we got home there was a package waiting for us. It was a care package from Sara. It contained band aids from the children, two pillowcases that Sara had made, a bag of Australian Licorice, some Godiva divine candies, a valentines card with hand outlines on it and a "packing slip" telling us what everything was for.
It was a fun care package and really made the day.
