these two pictures are of the Augusta Chapel. It began as a phase one building and then they added on to it and so it is a little different than most chapels. After out meeting today, we went out to get in the car and found that it had snowed. It snowed most of the day.
It was 7degrees this morning but it did not feel too cold because there was no wind. I have been attending a Reflexologist nearby and she has pretty much cured my sciatic nerve problem for me. This problem has over the years caused much pain in my hips and knees. I have attended Chiropractors and massage therapists and reflexology has made the most progress of them all. I have no idea how it works, I just know that I am able to walk upstairs without pain – something I have not been able to do for some while now. Being without pain is good. I walked to her apartment and was tramping through the snow just as I did last week, but I forgot that we have had an extra 6+ inches of the white stuff since then and so I almost got bogged down in the snow in the back yard here. On the way home I did not go through the back yard.
I went to the Relief Society Visiting Teaching Convention. When we got to the church, we found to our dismay that the other ward had set up the Relief Society Room for a baby shower to begin at 11am and our meeting was from 10 to 12.00, scheduled for the same room. So we moved to the Gym area and had a really nice meeting. Our refreshments were Yogurt Parfaits that we made from the yogurt, fruit and grape nuts cereal. Someone brought some Banana Nut bread and Pumpkin bread. It was quite nice. The theme for the convention was being a light to the world with Lighthouses as the table decorations. They had a lovely picture of Pemaquid Lighthouse in the background and a handmade latch hook rug depicting a Lighthouse. The Relief Society President pointed out that the Lobster the person was holding was Red (meaning cooked already) and that caused some laughter.
Later on in the day, Bill and I went to lunch at Panera and he used their wifi to download a program to his Ipad. To download it here using our internet hot spot would have used up quite a bit of our allowance of hot spot time.
My Sunday School Lesson tomorrow is on the Nature of God and coming to Know God. A scripture from the book of Mormon in Mosiah 5:13 says it best “How knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart? When I was on my mission in Japan, we had to teach the Japanese people first that there was a God, and that he had a son Jesus Christ because the Japanese did not know that. They are pretty much only attending to the Jingu (Buddhist Temple) and there is no mention of Jesus at that facility. So, now I get to teach in English, who is God, and why it is important that we draw close to Him and get to know Him. I guess I can do it – did it in Japanese, just have to translate it into English.
