When we arrived last night, we could see very little of what is to offer here in Augusta.
Today, we went doing errands and we went down by the river. I took the pictures on this blog with my I-phone.
The River is not flowing swiftly, but it is peaceful and calm amid the clatter of the traffic on the big bridge in the pic.
I thought Johnstown was old.............and people tell me that Prescott is OLD, but really, Augusta, Maine, is VERY VERY OLD and the architecture tells us this quite plainly.
Mixed in with the old is the new YMCA and the state archives building where we will be working on this mission. I saw a cathedral on the hill, but did not get to go to it to look at the building - there is time.
We went to Wally World to get a few things and I have been in some big Wal Mart buildings - but this one is by far the LARGEST one I have ever seen. I was amazed at the size and the amount of stuff they have under one roof.
We managed to get a map of Augusta and so will now be able to find our way around. The town straddles the Kennebec River and is really quire rural on the outskirts.
Did not do much today so do not have much to write about. Enjoy the pictures,!
Oh, I almost forgot, Yes, people in Arizona, this is real water in this river - not an artificial lake like they have in Tempe.
Mummy,
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures and I want to come visit! Fall in the Northeast AND hugs from mom and dad ... nothing could be better!
