Our trainer Manuel Sanheuza who was born in Chile and now lives in Canada, has been by our side Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and for almost 3 hours today before he left to go back to Canada. He is a very humble man and also a very knowledgeable man about computers and the dCamX that we are using to capture the digitized images. He is intense and very committed to the program and for training new missionaries like ourselves.
It is intimidating to say the least to have to learn about this camera and what it can and cannot do. It reduced me to tears in frustration, but after going over and over the manual, I think I can get it to work right. Of course if you press the wrong button, nothing works. (while playing wii with my grandsons, pressed the wrong button, turned the game off and was told by Oliver, "Bammar You know nothing.)
Manuel left and we were on our own. We finished the book we were working on and loaded it into the shuttle. At the end of the day we took the shuttle, safely tucked into its protective case, to Fed Ex. to go to SLC.
tried to capture the beautiful writing in these court records
this is just one example of the elegant court record books - all hand written so far.
The court record books are truly a marvel in book binding and penmanship. The above are the indexes to those wonderful books - but they are not so wonderful themselves. I was inspired to ask if there were any index books around since they were not on the list of books to be digitized....and lo and behold, they came up to our room armed with the indexes.................amazing.
An example of an index book
Here are a couple of pictures of the books. This one is the most beautiful writing.
